Sorry that I haven't posted in while. But no news is good news. Jerid's doing really well... considering. We had as nice of a weekend as you can have in the hospital. We watched some movies and ordered pizza and Chinese. (Separate occasions) We walked and played cards and just relaxed.
The most exciting thing happening is that Jerid has been without oxygen for over 2 days now. He's even walking without it. He does still get really winded when doing things, but that's just because he's so deconditioned.
He's gone down for a CT scan and another test because his eyes are still weird. One eye is normal, but the other droops slightly and the pupil is much larger. They can't find anything wrong though, so it may just be the medications.
Jerid is done with one of the antibiotics that was for one of the pseudomonas, and is continuing an inhaled antibiotic for the other. And he will have one more week on the antibiotic that's for the CMV. (Which is a kind of Pneumonia) The doctors say that he's getting much better.
All of his other levels- potassium, creatinin, blood pressure, hemoglobans, etc. are staying within range.
He's eating really well and I believe that we've got the anxiety under control with the other new meds.
The swelling is almost gone and there is no fruit to speak of. He's even stopped wearing his pantyhose.
I've been keeping the hospital staff in line and actually earned myself another meal ticket to the cafeteria. This last one was because I told someone how dirty his room was. Which they cleaned immediately, because it was. So don't worry. The big girl panties are still on. In fact, I can't seem to get them off. Where as I'm usually very patient to the point where I get pushed around in this big city, I got into a bit of a yelling match with 2 security guards and some lady in the parking garage. I politely asked them to move their car because they were blocking me in. 5 minutes later I didn't ask so politely. But they moved.
I know that everyone is antsy to know when we'll be home. I don't have exact information, but what I do know is this: Jerid's rigid bronch is scheduled for Thursday. Assuming all goes well with that, he will hopefully be released soon afterwards. I will return to Ohio this coming weekend and go back to work. Barring any health crisis's, Jerid will come home for Thanksgiving weekend, but will come back to Philly for a few weeks of out-patient rehab. I hope that gives everyone a better idea of what's going on.
Everything seems to be going well though. We had to move rooms again last night, so we lost our view of the helicopters. That's OK though, because the landing lights were really bright at night and we got to keep the refrigerator.
Jerid got a haircut in his room today. Some lady came with her kit. They charged us out the wazoo, plus extra because he's in isolation, but that's OK too because at least he doesn't look like Ronald McDonald anymore.
I'm doing well also. Eating and sleeping and taking my medicine. I'll post again soon... promise.

Wooo Hooo!...yippie!....fantastic..
Jerid's almost home!!! Good work Jerid! You're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel once again. Can't wait to see you. It's wonderful that you'll be home for the holiday weekend. Will see you on Thanksgiving day. Just keep your eyes on the prize...sweet potatoes this Thanksgiving....not like last year at my house. My microwave didn't know how to handle those giant, fat sweet potatoes.
Love,
Joann
