Pantyhose

Well, the sun didn't come out. Literally. When I woke up it was pouring and it continued to rain on and off all day.

Today's photo is of Jerid modeling his new threads. They're called teds, and they help with the swollen ankles and legs. But I like calling them Jerid's pantyhose. Sexy, huh? I'm hoping that Jerid will continue to wear them long after the hospital stay. He just needs a garter belt and he'll be all set.

Not a whole lot happened today, but overall, I think it was a good one. Being here everyday, it's hard to see progress being made, but suddenly today, I saw it. Jerid can do so much more than he could a week ago. He sits in his chair for most of the day, he can reach for things himself, and he doesn't fall asleep on me nearly as much. He takes much longer walks without getting too tired, if you listen closely his voice is getting stronger, and he's breathing much better- he really doesn't even need oxygen when he's sitting still. I think that's it's hard to notice these things when the list of problems keeps growing. But the problems are mostly all drug related... his body is healing according to plan.

So though there was no sun, it was a positive day. We took THREE walks today! All nice long ones. And he pushed the bike pedals for six minutes. VERY good progress. I think even he was proud of himself.

He shaved himself, brushed his teeth, did a lot of his bath himself (no need for me to wash the icky parts anymore) and I washed his hair. So if you were here visiting him he would smell yummy and be nice and shiny. He definitely needs a haircut though. With that curly hair of his, he's gonna look like Ronald McDonald by the time he gets out.

The bad news is that his creatinine levels are still going up. The renal team came to see him and also believe it to be a side effect from the Colistin. They're going to get a urine sample tomorrow and do a little more investigation just in case.

We'll hopefully find out tomorrow if the two antibiotics are killing the Pseudomonas. They have a culture growing (or not) now.

If you are a medical professional reading this, I am very sorry. I'm sure that their are misspellings and wrong terminology used all the time. I do try my best. Feel free to correct me in the comments.

Eagle Beverage has allowed Jerid to work from PA all these months, and the News-Sun is being so patient about my time off. It takes the hugest weight off of our shoulders and allows us to concentrate on what's most important. (Without going broke in the meantime.) Due to this, they both have our undying loyalty and we'll probably be working for them until we're old and gray. But at least Jerid will get old and gray!
