I am just so so excited as I write tonight. I can hardly sit still. Hopefully, as long as everything goes OK, cross your fingers, knock on wood, Jerid's coming home tomorrow! Yay! Yay! Yay! We're both looking forward to it so much. And as if that weren't enough, my favorite little pumpkin butt in the whole world is coming on Saturday! And Grandma Rose and Aunt Vickie too. It's just too much excitement.
So I'll briefly catch you up on the latest scoop. I didn't write last night because I stayed up late cleaning Jerid's suite in the house getting ready for his arrival. And then I was just too pooped. Here's what's been going on:
You didn't miss much on Wednesday. Jerid was still tired and frustrated. Therefore I was tired and frustrated. We had a session with Diana on his medications and when to take them, and which ones to take with meals or without, and the many, many side effects to watch for. Crazy complicated. But I think it'll be easy after a bit. All of Jerid's levels were about the same, which is good.
The only really exciting thing to report from Wednesday is this: We're down to a large lemon! Whoohooo! Now that's progress!
Today was much better. Jerid Started out in a good mood. Even despite the fact that he had to be put under again. He was dreading it. (This makes 4 times he's been under anethesia in 4 weeks.) And that he hadn't eaten since the night before and they didn't take him down to surgery until 3:00.
The surgery went very well though. It was about 2 hours round trip from his room to the O.R. and back. Not too shabby. The doctor told me that she gave him a temporary collagen injection. It will last 3-4 months. It will give him about 80% of his voice back. At the end of that time, if his voice still isn't back, they'll do a more permanent one that lasts a year or some sort of other method.
And when he got back from surgery.... he spoke. And spoke. And kept on speaking. Making fun of everyone and everything. 4 weeks of pent up sarcasm and nastiness that couldn't escape. He was a riot!
Here are some ways you can tell that Jerid has been in the hospital too long:
1. As we were walking the halls the other day, Jerid insisted on watching the monitors. He was positive that he was seeing things on his heart rate. I had to drag him away because I'm pretty sure he would have stood there half the day. That's right folks, there's a new Captain Crazy Pants in town. And he's wearing AC-DC pants.
2. We're getting to know way too many people on a personal level. For instance, this guy that has been there for a while and always waves and says hello while walking gave Jerid a little pat and a "good job buddy" on his way down to surgery. Later, while I was waiting in the room for Jerid to come back, "Mike" came in to get the scoop. He was very impressed with Jerid. And he told me that he was in for a heart transplant. He told me that when he was on the table, and they took his heart out and put the other one in, he was looking down on himself. His dead mother was holding his left hand, his dead grandmother was holding his right, and his dead sister was rubbing his back. They told him to go back. That's all I have to say about that.
3. The man whose twig and berries I saw recently has taken to serious staring whenever we walk by his room. You don't think he had his legs spread on purpose do you?
4. The poor innocent nurses are going to start getting things thrown at them soon. Not a one can please Jerid anymore. Let alone the phlebotomists that take his blood. I think Jerid might just start doing it himself.
The point of all of this is, that everyone who reads this tonight or tomorrow morning needs to get up and do the best chant/dance/prayer they can. Don't be shy. Let your whole household or office hear you! Jerid needs to GET OUT OF THE HOSPITAL!
So anyway, the final update is this: Jerid's levels are great, his swelling is down, he loves his voice, and his appetite is coming back. We're getting there kids.

Wooo hooo! Weee hooo! Hooo hooo! Does it sound like the song that is going through my head? I don't know any of the words, only when they say the Woo Hoo part, but lets just say I am celebrating!! Woo hoo!! Not only does Jerid have a voice, but he is coming home!! Wee Hoo! I will definately be dancing and chanting. Way to go Jerid! I will send tons of positive energy your way tomorrow in hopes it will help you all be home together when your little pumpkin butt arrives! What a celebration that will be!! You and Jerid have been through so much, and you guys have stayed so stong through all of it. You guys deserve such great news and relief. I think the sun is coming out! I love you, Liz
That a boy! It is way overdue that you get back to your normal way of life... remote in one hand buttcheeks adhered to the couch. I am so, so happy for you to be going home bro!! We are all praying, dancing, screaming that you are "outta the joint" today. I am thrilled to hear you got a voice. Did they give you a "Barry White" collagen injection? C'mon, you know, a real deep, sexy, black man's voice. I know you'd roll well with that. I can't wait to actually speak to you it feels like its been a year. We miss you both so much.
Love,
Ty
Fantastic! What progress you have made in such a short time! I am so excited that I am dancing in my seat! I will have Sammy do his turkey butt dance for you. I'm sure that will insure your release today. I'm sure that Annie misses you both and can't wait to see you. Glad all is going well and we all love and miss you.

You are dong wonderful and will continue to get better and stronger and everything else. Again, hope to see you out running around soon. So, the good news is you will get to be in your own environment and surroundings and fun and all that stuff, the bad news is you didn't have to do to many chores while in the joint other than take walks and be mean to people and watch tv. I can't imagine what the grass looks like at your PA home, I'm sure they have saved it for you to mow and plenty of chores for you to do so that you can earn your keep around the house again. Good for you, hopefully this little bit of info will brighten it up for you and excite you as well. HA HA. On a more serious note. YEA YEA YEA, so happy you are getting out of there, now you can sleep in and do what you want. It will be so nice and so much more comfortable. Your are definately 500 miles from where you were just one month ago with all of this. How awesome is that. Sort of seems like a long time ago, but if you think about what you have endured in one month WOW! What a strong man you are. And now with a big boy voice and all..... Love ya guys - Congrats as well.
Shannon
Yay, yay, yay!!!!!! Get outta there guy! Go bother somebody else for a change.
Bill / Dad
Dear Jerid,
Is that the correct computer lingo because nobody else started that way? First of all, tell Marin that it is not nice to call your mother and Vicki pumpkin butts. You must sound like Beavis and Butthead when they were in sex ed. and couldn't laugh until they left. Heh Heh Heh Heh And tell Marin that I go out for that Blizzard and they didn't have Reese cups!!
Oh! Do you think Ty will marry me?
I think I'm in love:) A man who shows his love and friendship without shame is dreamy!! Love, Lara
