Annie's Side of the Story

Hello everyone. Annie here. Mommy told me about this blog they were keeping and I thought I'd give you all my side of the story. It's been a crazy 5 days and I'm sure you're not hearing the WHOLE story. So here goes...

Late Friday night as I was sleeping peacefully in my crib in Ohio, mommy came in and said we had to go. We were going to see daddy. He was getting his transplant. I was totally up for it. We got in the car and mommy told me to go back to sleep, but I was too excited! So I stayed awake for a very long time and looked out the window. I slept a little bit, but it seemed like every time I would finally nod off, we would stop so Grandma or Grandpa could pee. (I think they should get some diapers like me- it would be a lot easier.)

Anyway, the sun finally came up and we got to HUP. We rushed in to the hospital so that we could sit down and wait. So weird. We were in a very cold room with very uncomfortable furniture. I was soooooo tired. Mommy turned out the lights and turned some cartoons on the TV for me. Pretty soon I was fast asleep. The next thing I knew, we were moving to a new waiting room. Warmer, but still uncomfortable. Mommy and Grandma and Grandpa were talking to a nurse and she said that daddy was doing good and he was awake. Mommy and Grandma and Grandpa took turns going in and out of another room and came out happy. Something about daddy looking really good.

We checked into our hotel which was really cool because I could finally walk all over the place and discover all new things. The next couple of days were REALLY boring. We went back and forth between the hotel and daddy's room. I never did get to see daddy, but I here he's doing new and exciting things everyday just like me. Mommy says that I'm the best little girl in the world because I'm so tired and worn out and always stuck in the stroller, but never complain. Why would I? It's so neat to yell through the halls of the hospital because it echos real loud. Grandma tells me to hush, but I just can't stop! And grandpa plays with me a lot and gives me things to eat that mommy never does. And I don't have to take naps or eat vegetables. This is fun!

Last night we stayed at Grandma Page and Grandpa Jim's house. It's fun too because they have a waterfall in the backyard. Mommy and Page chase after me all day trying to keep me from falling in. I just can't stay away from it though- it's addictive. Mommy took me swimming today in the hot tub. I went underwater and everything.

Mommy said that today when she went to see daddy he was sitting in a chair. He's coughing up lots of yucky stuff, but that's OK. She says that he still can't pee right though and she has to help him while grandma looks away. He says that he's still having hallucinations and that this face in the hall keeps staring at him. Daddy's weird. Mommy said that he didn't get moved to a regular room today because it was the 4th of July and they were short staffed and lazy. Also, his nurse must not be very nice because mommy and Grandma were mad at her. Daddy was very tired today so mommy didn't go back to see him tonight and just Grandma and Grandpa went.

I can hear fireworks going off. Mommy says that's what we do in America on the 4th, but I think that everyone is just celebrating daddy and his transplant. He's the bravest, strongest, bestest daddy in the whole world. Mommy says that soon he will be able to come home and live with us and we're going to go everywhere and do everything.

Tomorrow Grandma and Grandpa are taking me back to Ohio. I'm staying with them until the 13th of July. Mommy says that she has to stay here and take care of daddy. She says that she's going to miss me so much that it makes her heart ache to think about it. I know that I'll have lots of fun with Grandma and Grandpa though. So if anybody needs me or wants to visit me, you'll have to come to Grandma Rose and Grandpa Rick's house.

Oh yeah. And mommy also says that everyone should post comments and email her because she really misses everyone and wants to hear what's going on with them too.

I love you all!

Hi Annie and Marin and yes the "Big Deal" Jerid. It has been an incredible week of reading, talking and witnessing what I truly consider to be a miracle. I am excited for the soon and coming day when Jerid responds and updates this blog. Annie, you have a safe ride home with G-ma and G-pa and be good!
